Urinary tract infection or UTI is a type of early infection that is mostly caused by E. coli bacteria in the bladder. In the case of UTI infection, there is a problem of pain and irritation while urinating. Although this problem persists in both men and women, it is more common among women.

Infections occurring in any part of the urinary tract such as the kidneys, bladder, urethra, and ureters are called urinary tract infections. This infection is caused by microorganisms, mostly by bacteria. But sometimes it is also spread by viruses and fungus. 

 

The lower tract UTI has a bad effect on the urethra and bladder, while the upper tract UTI infection has a bad effect on the ureters and kidneys. Therefore, urinary tract infection of the lower part is more serious.

 

Types of UTI

 

Urinary tract infection is divided into three parts depending on the condition:

 

Cystitis or Bladder infection 

 

It is an infection within the bladder caused by bacteria. Yeast may also be a cause of bladder infection in people with poor immunity.

 

Urethritis or Urethra infection

 

There is a feeling of pain while urinating due to swelling in the urethra.

 

Pyelonephritis or kidney infection

 

It is a type of kidney infection. This is a serious health condition. The infected may need to be hospitalized if the problem gets worse. The symptoms of kidney infection are fever, blood in urine, and vaginal pain. Pregnant women are more likely to get infected.

 

Causes of Urinary Tract Infection

 

Major causes of urethra infection are bacteria and viruses, but also due to the following reasons-

 

Poor eating habits

 

Poor eating habits is also a cause of Urethra infection. Therefore, people should avoid stale and harmful food.

 

Stomach upset

 

People suffering from a stomach-problems may also have a urine infection. Therefore, do not consume anything that leads to stomach problems.

 

Weakness of immunity

 

The risk of urethral infection increases when a person’s immunity is weak. Therefore, people should take care of their immunity.

 

Pregnancy

  • Symptoms of mood changes, fever, loss of appetite, and lethargy are seen in elderly.

Home remedies for UTI

 

Relief in UTI with hot compress

 

Hot compress prevents bacteria from growing and reduces inflammation. It also reduces bladder pressure and relieves pain caused by infection.

 

Pineapple is helpful 

 

Pineapples contain enzymes that have anti-inflammatory properties. These help in preventing UTI. People with UTI should consume pineapple regularly for a few days. Drinking fresh pineapple juice is also beneficial in urinary tract infections.

 

Tea tree oil is effective 

 

Tea Tree Essential Oil has antibacterial properties that help bacteria. Clean the genitals with a few drops of tea tree oil mixed with water.

 

Amla is beneficial

 

Amla is rich in Vitamin-C and it prevents bacteria from multiplying. Mix turmeric powder and Amla powder (one teaspoon each) in a cup of water. Boil the water till it reduces to half. Drinking this mixture four to five times a day. It provides benefits in preventing UTI.

 

Drinking more water is beneficial in UTI
