Problem of back pain has become very common due to following modern food habits and wrong lifestyle as nowadays it is seen more in children and young people than in elderly people. The main reasons for this problem are working on the computer for long hours, using cell phones for a long time, standing for a long time, running for long hours and lifting heavy weight in the wrong way etc.

What is back pain?

When a person starts feeling a stretch in the upper, middle and lower parts of the back, then the person gradually suffers from back pain. The lower part of the spine carries most of the weight of the body. Back pain can be due to the lack of metabolic chemicals present in the body. This problem can also arise due to a fracture in the spine or weakening of bones. Due to which there is more pressure on the spinal cord, which comes in the form of pain. Back pain mainly depends on the functioning of bones, nerves, muscles and ligaments.

Symptoms of Back pain

Following are the common symptoms of back pain;

  • Pulled muscle and stiffness in the lower back

  • Numbness around the hip or thigh when pressure is applied to the middle of the spinal cord.

Causes of Back pain

Vertebral disc-

Each vertebra in the spinal cord is connected by discs. If the vertebrae breaks, then there is pressure on the nervous system of the body. As a result, pain occurs in the back.

Disk bulge -

Sometimes a herniated disc puts pressure on the body's nervous system. As a result, pain starts in the lower part of the spine.

Abnormal curvature of the spine –

Usually, the length of the spine increases with age but on the other hand, there is more growth in one part of the spine, and less growth in another. Due to irregular growth, the physical balance gets disturbed due to which the body becomes afflicted with back pain and other serious diseases.

Spinal cancer-

A tumor that develops on the spinal cord puts pressure on the body's nervous system. As a result of which back pain can arise.

Lack of calcium in the body-

Our body needs all kinds of nutritious values because these values make the body healthy. It also contains calcium, whose main function is to strengthen bones but if a person does not consume calcium rich elements, then that person may have to face many diseases including back pain.

Arthritis-

People suffering from osteoarthritis have to face problems in knees, hips, lower back, neck and joints of hands. In this condition, the substance covering the ends of the joint is called flexible cartilage. It slips or breaks. This results in extreme pain, swelling and difficulty in moving the joints. Spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spine) may also develop in some cases due to which the area around the spine becomes narrower.

Spinal cord infection-

Due to infection in the spinal cord, severe pain starts in the lower part of the spine and the person also experiences fever.
